A beautiful documentary about the worldview, art and music of the Shona people through the Mbira, an ancient musical instrument from Zimbabwe.

Kunakirwa - To Enjoy

The first time I watched this film was during a week long mbira camp. One of the students, a Zimbabwean lady who had spent most of her adult life in the UK, had come with the wish to reconnect to her ancestors. The film shows the same remote paths she used to walk on her way to school, evoking deep memories, stirring tears of joy, and bringing her one step closer.
